Westphalia is a region of Northeast Germany now part of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The Treaty of Westphalia, ending the Thirty Years War in 1648, was signed here. Now a heavily industrialized area, but also important for its farmland, Westphalia is located primarily in the large flood plain between the Rhine and Weser Rivers.
Reflecting the architectural materials common to the area, the room has walls accented with timber and bricks. The bed is a four poster, and a traditional old German tapestry, depicting the virtues of women, decorates the east wall. An antique map appears on another wall not far from a medieval helmet.
