Gascony, a province of Southwestern France bordering the Pyrenees, became part of France in the XV Century. Its rocky landscape includes the area known as the “Landes,” a sandy plain boasting the largest coniferous forest in Europe. The Gascons were known to be fiercely independent and brave warriors.
For this room, the feel of a Gascon country house is created by a four-poster bed, the toile de jouy wall fabric, the armoire, the tapestry and the painting of a young nobleman over the fireplace. The only thing missing is the outstanding foie gras for which Gascony is famous.
