Brandenburg brings to mind the famous gate in Berlin where President Reagan challenged Chairman Gorbachev to “tear down this wall.” Originally part of Prussia, Brandenburg is the German state that surrounds the city of Berlin.
The room is decorated in the style of the XVIII Century, featuring a large gold-framed mirror next to the marble surround of the fireplace. A large painting of the French philosopher Voltaire conversing with Frederick the Great in Sans Souci, the royal residence in Potsdam, hangs in the room. The light-colored décor features an armoire stenciled in a baroque floral motif, comfortable armchairs and a large oriental carpet. An original antique map of Brandenburg dating from 1850 is complemented by a number of engravings of German cities.
