Ardennes is a heavily wooded region that spans Northeast France, a large part of Belgium, Luxembourg and Western Germany. For centuries, it was a battleground as various armies moved though the area. The most important modern battle fought here was the Battle of the Bulge, crucial to the outcome of World War II. In addition to numerous impressive medieval castles, the rustic landscape is dotted with picturesque stone houses scattered about the rugged terrain.
The room features dark wood tones and beams. The mantelpiece is of heavy timber, and the furniture is simple but warm. A tapestry over the fireplace depicts the arrival of Emperor Maximilian of Austria as he overlooks Brussels, the Belgian capital. An engraving shows a map of Brussels in the XVIII Century.
